History

The Literature/Film Association was founded by Jim Welsh in 1989.  In the years since its inception, the LFA has grown into a thriving professional organization with an international membership and a history of annual conferences held in the United States and abroad.  It is currently the largest and most active scholarly society devoted to the study of literature and film, and is committed to the continued study of these media as they change and evolve in the twenty-first century.
